The student population is over 33,000 including almost 8,000 international students based in the Dublin campus and almost 5,000 students in overseas facilities. Approximately 31% of the student body is engaged in postgraduate study and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-challenge\">Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-institutional-profile-1\"><br>SIG partnered with UCD to upgrade Ellucian Banner production and non-production components to the latest available version 9.x release, and installation of related Ellucian Ethos identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solution\">Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UCD\u2019s ambition is to be an international leader before 2024 by making the campus a model for working in the digital age. A critical step toward enhancing the UCD community experience was the task of upgrading the Banner Student system to the latest version 9. The campus-wide initiative was no ordinary upgrade which provided the University with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A fresh user experience for students, faculty, and staf<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to new options in registration, communication, and grade management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alignment with enterprise security policies for seamless and secure system access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-results-amp-impact\">Results &amp; Impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During the six-month collaboration, all project tasks were delivered on-time leading to a tightly orchestrated transition with minimal downtime over a single weekend. The project resulted in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Secure single sign on for student, faculty, and staff leveraging services available from Ireland\u2019s National Education Network, HEAnet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>User authentication and access control for Banner was integrated into the University\u2019s overall security management policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Banner Student access was protected by multi-factor authentication protocols<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Net result being a huge improvement to the security of student data and the overall information system as a core asset of the University<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved user experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ability to run on any modern browser which provided familiar standard controls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provided ease of training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhanced usability and navigation for power users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Significant reduction in time and cost to maintain Banner with Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Centralized maintenance tasks in one location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simplified the view of software dependencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automated the retrieval of software updates and downloads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saved valuable time with fewer maintenance interruptions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lessened the dependence on tailored modifications by utilising Banner 9 extensibility tools<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-sig-can-help\">How SIG Can Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>SIG has assisted hundreds of clients with start-to-finish implementation consulting and management including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Configuration and implementation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Banner 9 and general Banner security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identity management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SSO configuration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go-live support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SIG also offers customised solutions including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engagement in a business modeling session to review current processes, and then develop a new business process to best utilise Banner 9 functionality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure Banner 9 modules and menus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop detailed training materials, an implementation plan, and timeline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training, testing, and go-live support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University College Dublin (UCD) is the largest University in Ireland with six colleges and thirty-seven schools offering a range of programs.
